Role Summary

The Systems & Application IT Engineer supports refinery IT, plant information systems, and process control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and high‑availability operations. This role combines Process Control Systems (core focus) and Plant Information Systems, working end‑to‑end from implementation to daily support. The position collaborates closely with operations, maintenance, Corporate IT, and system vendors in a live refinery environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain refinery IT and Process Control (OT) systems.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and cybersecurity of systems and applications.
  • Support and troubleshoot DCS, APC, and plant information systems.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and vendors (e.g. Honeywell) to sustain smooth operations.
  • Coordinate with Corporate IT on end‑user computing and system integration matters.
  • Lead and execute system improvement initiatives (e.g. AD migration, DCS upgrades, vendor applications).
  • Manage projects safely, on schedule, and within approved budget.
  • Liaise with vendors for system support, troubleshooting, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Monitor software license usage, system costs, and compliance requirements.
  • Support change management, system upgrades, and continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Computer, Control, Electronic, or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in refinery information systems and process control environments
  • Hands‑on experience with Advanced Process Control (APC) is mandatory
  • Strong Oil & Gas / Refinery background
  • Experience with DCS systems such as Honeywell and/or Yokogawa
  • Familiarity with systems such as Bflex/LIMS, PHD, DCS, APC, MnR, CPM, or similar
  • Knowledge of IT/OT standards (ITIL, ISO27001, ISA‑99 / IEC62443) is an advantage
